About the assignment
Apply your civil engineering skills, working alongside the Cook Islands government to improve water supply systems.
Building on the work of previous VSA Water Engineers, you will provide technical support to relevant government departments as they continue to implement water improvement projects on 11 outer islands, beyond Rarotonga. Some of the projects you will assist with involve geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, and coastal protection. You will be providing technical input in various areas, including water tank repairs, water storage alternatives, pump specifications, water gallery development, well pumping tests, sanitation, particularly wastewater treatment (both on-site and centralised), and solid waste management.
This assignment offers an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on water infrastructure and support Cook Islands communities.
This is a 1-year assignment based in Rarotonga.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil)
- At least four years’ experience in infrastructure design, implementation and monitoring
- Working knowledge of a range of water supply system designs
- Experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders towards a common goal
