At Unitec, our Environmental and Animal Sciences programmes prepare our students for an exciting and rewarding career caring for animals, protecting our natural environment and helping to solve environmental issues through powerful science communication.
As our Technician – Plant Ecology, you’ll be responsible for looking after laboratory instruments and training people on how to use them, whilst upholding our Health and Safety guidelines here at Unitec.
Daily, you’ll supervise students out in the field and collect plant and insect samples. At Unitec, we have our very own Herbarium and you’ll be working closely with your team to assist in this area.
You’ll also be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to our Academic staff with their plant based research and data entry.
As a Technician – Plant Ecology, you will come with proven experience in field Ecology and insect collections. You’re a strong communicator with impeccable time management skills.
It is essential you have a degree in Ecology or Field Biology with a strong knowledge of plants and New Zealand history of plants.
As your start and finish times may vary week to week, you’ll be flexible and adaptable to work within a set roster. We are looking for you to be research active and have experience with HSNO Exempt .
To be successful in this role you must have a New Zealand clean, full driver’s licence.
