The Faculty of Engineering
The Technical Services team at The Faculty of Engineering is seeking a Technician on a full-time, permanent basis.
Our work involves the manufacture of research and teaching equipment where you will have the chance to use your skills to build and develop prototype engineering and scientific equipment. The work is interesting and varied and you will be working with a wide variety of materials and machines. Sound design skills and the ability to solve problems will allow you to develop unique solutions to some of the challenges you will face.
Our ideal candidate will have a Fitter Turner or Tool maker background and tick the following boxes:
- A trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering specialising in Fitting and Machining, Toolmaking or other relevant experience
- top quality machining skills with the ability to weld is advantageous
- Good computer literacy is essential.
- A can-do and positive attitude, along with being a team playing and a natural problem solver
We have a well-equipped modern workshop with good working conditions and where workplace Health and Safety compliance is a must. Our Technicians work in a supportive team with minimal supervision. The research we support is life changing and being part of that process is rewarding and provides us with variety and a challenge.
