About the service:
The primary purpose of the Health Improvement Team is to engage and inspire community leaders in a continuous process of inquiry, planning, action and transformation to sustainably improve the health and wellbeing of Waikato communities. We work in partnership with leaders of targeted settings to prioritise wellbeing, advance whānau ora and improve health equity.
About the role:
We would like to offer you an opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of Waikato communities.
We are looking for a motivated and multi-skilled Manager who is able to empower, grow, advocate for and support our Health Improvement Advisors and the Team.
This role requires you to have experience at engaging with the health system at a strategic level, with a wide range of stakeholders across our region, and ensuring that quantitative and qualitative outcomes are well identified and measured. To be successful in this role, you will be skilled at developing effective relationships and passionate about improving population health with a specific focus on improving Māori and Pacific health equity.
Required skills and experience:
- A strong learning ethos.
- The ability to lead in a manner that is positive and enables and motivates others.
- Management or coordination of programmes of work.
- Strong social and community development focus.
- A full range of effective communication skills (presentation, verbal and both formal and informal written).
- Budget management.
- A flexible and innovative approach to ensure that the best outcomes are generated from constrained resources and requirements.
- Structure and values based focus to drive community wellness engagement.
Advanced knowledge of Waikato communities and established relationships with key stakeholders within the Waikato district will set you apart from other applicants.
The main office for the Waikato Public Health Unit is in Hamilton Central City, however frequent travel will be required to deliver this service across the whole of the Waikato region.
