Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) is Auckland’s economic development agency and it’s our job to ignite changes that transform the local economy. This is a unique opportunity to take a strategic and in-depth approach to the potential of the Māori Economy across Tāmaki Makaurau and to progress Auckland Council Groups Māori Outcomes Strategic Priority – Māori Economic Development.
Reporting to the General Manager Strategy, you will play an integral role within ATEEDs Strategy team to develop a deep understanding of the Māori Economy in Tāmaki Makaurau, through research and insights, to develop ATEEDs strategy and advise how ATEED can best enable and measure economic outcomes for Māori. You will also play an integral role within ATEEDs Māori Caucus, a strategic group that champions Māori Outcomes. Through this team, you will also indirectly report to the Head of Māori Outcomes.
Through developing a deep understanding of the Māori Economy in Tāmaki Makaurau, you will drive research, analytics and insights and understand drivers of change. You will use evidence to inform and drive strategic change and prioritisation, adjusting where necessary to improve performance and respond to a changing environment. Alongside this, you will develop frameworks and other tools that will help guide and drive Māori outcomes into operational delivery across ATEEDs portfolio, with a strong focus on jobs and skills, Māori Business Growth and Tourism.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You will play a critical role ensuring ATEED will be the leader in Māori Economic Development for Tāmaki Makaurau, with a deep and nuanced understanding of the dynamics of a large regional and urban city. With proven research and advance analytical skills, you will have a wealth of experience in quantitative reasoning and a high level of data literacy.
You will be tertiary qualified and have demonstrated ability to develop and implement fact based strategic and tactical plans to achieve set objectives. Naturally, you will have political and organisational acumen and a confident and collaborative working style. This role requires a strong intellectual curiosity that enables you to make connections between issues.
Your credibility will enable you to engage with and influence senior decision makers. Strong leadership skills and an established Māori Sector network across Tāmaki Makaurau is essential to support a data-driven approach matched with a deep and nuanced understanding of mana whenua and mataawaka economic aspirations.
