- Salary is $50,000 to $70,000 per annum
As part of the Science Engagement Team, this role will work alongside kura, marae, and iwi, together with, science partners, community groups and funders. It will help lead the design, development and delivery of innovative science engagement activities, with a focus on integrating Māori perspectives, mātauranga, te reo, and tikanga into engagement content and delivery. These activities will then be delivered within the Museum, and in outreach locations throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
The role will involve working closely with iwi, community groups and scientists to build trusted relationships and deliver authentic and engaging experiences. You must be able to juggle multiple projects, and work effectively at both a creative and detailed level. The ideal candidate will be confident presenting publicly and in Māori communities, and effective working in a collaborative team environment, whilst also being able to take initiative directly. A tertiary level qualification is desirable. A genuine passion and capability to extend mātauranga Māori and science in our communities is essential.
This is a full-time role for a fixed term of between 2 to 5 years (negotiable), The role is Monday to Friday but applicants must be available to work after hours and weekends as required.
