About our group and team
The Data and Information Stewardship group (DIS) is responsible for developing and executing policies, practices, procedures and technology to manage the data and information lifecycle to deliver on the needs of data and information for users of the information. The group champions the management of safe and appropriate use of data and information for better decision making.
The Data Solutions and Warehousing team is responsible for delivering leading Ministry thinking, implementation, operation and maintenance of data warehousing technology in collaboration with experts in the IT group.
About this role
The Senior SAS Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining fit for purpose SAS solutions, products and services that support the Ministry’s analysis and decision making process.
We’re looking for a curious Senior SAS Developer who wants to be part of a team to deliver on our data journey. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be customer-centric, delivery focused and work in an agile way.
You will also offer as follows:
- At least eight years of continuous SAS programming experience
- Experience integrating SAS with data warehouse environments running on a RDBMS such as Microsoft SQL Server
- Strong understanding of Data modelling concepts (Third normal form, Dimensional and Data vault). Any experience in Data vault methodology is highly advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with both technical and business stakeholders
- The ability to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks to delivery while managing expectations of stakeholders
- Expert at problem solving with high degree of data analytical skills
- The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
