We have a passionate team of analysts, a great culture, and invite you to join us! This Senior Policy Analyst role sits in the Māori Policy and Strategy team in the Māori Health Directorate at the Ministry of Health.
As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will have experience in leading and developing quality policy advice. You will understand how systems work and be up to the challenge of improving health outcomes for Māori within a complex and challenging health and disability system.
Māori health policy is guided by Whakamaua: Māori Health Action Plan 2020-2025 and He Korowai Oranga: Māori Health Strategy.
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- A passion for making a difference
- A good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in public policy development
- Experience in applying the full policy process lifecycle
- Confidence to work, contribute and foster Te Ao Māori perspectives in policy development
- A good understanding of the machinery of government
- Track record of writing for policy purposes including in plain language and for ministerial audiences
- Ability to develop productive and trusting relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Can do attitude and strong self-directed work ethic
As a senior member of the Māori health strategy and policy team, you will be a welcomed contributor to the Māori Health Directorate work programme that shares a deep commitment to achieving better Māori health and well-being outcomes. You will be happy to share your skills and experience as well as support other team members develop theirs.
