A kāinga or papakāinga provides the linkages where whānau connect whakapapa and whenua which is integral to one’s tūrangawaewae, or place to anchor one’s feet. The cultural value of having ‘people and place’ intact enables whānau to strengthen their identity, language, culture, physical and spiritual wellbeing, and grow their economic sustainability – he āhuru nā i!
