Senior HR Lead – Generalist

Self-driven and highly skilled people manager, with significant HR experience? Proactively identify, recommend and provide expert advice in the development of frameworks, policies, business rules and guidelines and practices.

Founded by a group of health professional in response for the need to provide Pacific primary healthcare to the Pacific population in Counties Manukau, South Seas Healthcare has been the hub of the Otara community for over 20 years. Entering an exciting period of growth and realignment, a newly created position has come to market for the first time.  The purpose of the role is to carry out the day-to-day human resource activities, with the objective of maximising operational efficiency and staff satisfaction. Whilst reflecting best HR practice and delivering high level, quality human resource practices to all staff, the position partners with the leaders in the business and  delivers on the organisation goal of attracting, recruiting and retaining the best people.

Overseeing development and implementation of strategic HR plans, programs and systems you will enable alignment of services, including organisational development, and redevelopment of key change projects.

A wide ranging and highly varied position, it is one that combines both strategic and operational elements of HR. Developing and delivering innovative tools and training, ensuring  key talent is attracted, selected and supported , you will collaboratively with line mangers to ensure the right support, information and guidance is delivered to managers across a broad range of topics.

Providing guidance and coaching in performance conversations assessment and performance rating, development planning.  You will encourage leaders to have regular and constructive coaching and performance dialogue with people.

As part of the senior leadership team, you will be providing advice and professional guidance on a range of strategic and operational HR management and employment related issues. As such, this position will attract those with demonstrated skills at a Senior HR level, who can take sole charge in the policy, advisory and recruitment space.  A self-driven and skilled people manager, you will understand how to influence outcomes and practically resolve challenges to keep the business moving forward.

Key attributes, skills and competencies required are to include;

  • 5 years+ experience within HR, preference to a skill base developed within NZ or the Pacific.
  • Skilled in organisational development
  • Generalist experience across all areas of human resources.
  • Skilled in employment, human rights, privacy and health and safety legislation.
  • Significant experience dealing with complex employment relations matters.
  • Experience with the resolution of employment relationship issues.
  • Experience in the management of the end to end recruitment and selection processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of job analysis, onboarding, remuneration management, and performance management.
  • Experience with investigation and disciplinary process, change management and interpretation of employment agreements.
  • A high-level of business acumen and coaching and training skills.
  • A tertiary qualification in human resources or a relevant business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with coaching, mentoring and constructing career development plans.
  • The ability to contribute to people strategies.
  • Demonstration of working in a bi – cultural environment, a pacific language skill is highly desirable.

Naturally, you will have strong creditability across both HR and the greater business community, and can demonstrate proficiency in launching organisational models, concepts, and deliver on projects.

Establishing and building strong and cohesive working relationships with the managers and leaders across the business, you will have leadership skills and the humility and cultural responsiveness to work with a broad range of Pacific staff and clients.  As part of the local community (where almost 95% of the population identify as being of Pacific Island descent), a cultural alignment and commitment to serving the needs of Pacific people, families and communities is paramount.

You will be highly regarded within your field, and bring both your industry connections and innovative, best practice ideas with you. You’ll be ready to be apply new and innovative ways of working to assure the organisation not only keeps pace with the industry, but rather set the standards for others to follow.
