About the Role:

You will be supporting the Whānau Care initiative, whose goal is for tamariki and rangatahi Māori to experience full and happy lives with loving whānau. Our vision is that all tamariki and rangatahi Māori in care are safe, stable and connected to their whakapapa in loving homes with whānau, hapū and iwi caregivers. Oranga Tamariki is partnering with iwi and kaupapa Māori providers to achieve Māori aspirations for tamariki, with the initial focus on tamariki in care.

You will work closely with an Engagement Lead (supported by a Senior Change Manager) to understand impacts, develop, deliver and support communications, implementation and business readiness planning.
About you:
We have a lot of important work to do, so to be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience with a range of  change management activities including impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, communications, learning, change leadership and people readiness.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working in partnership with iwi/ Māori (desirable).
  • An adaptive, positive and collaborative style of working – be a team player.
  • Strong communication and delivery skills.

About us:

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for children works to advance the wellbeing and positive long-term outcomes of tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau.

In everything we do, the safety, wellbeing and best-interests of children are paramount and we are committed to working with others to achieve this.  As we are in the middle of an incredible transformation, now is an exciting time to join and help us in our work.

Why work for Oranga Tamariki:

  • Supporting tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau is at the heart of what we do.
  • We don’t work in isolation but with our communities and partners, particularly iwi and Māori to deliver the best outcomes.
  • Flexible working opportunities makes it easier for you to work from where you need to be.
  • The people you will work with have the same end goal – to do the right thing for tamariki and rangatahi.
