Job Description

Senior Business Analyst

Fixed term to October 2020

About you

As well as having extensive experience in critically identifying business issues and applying analytical techniques, you will be able to translate technical information to a non-technical audience.

You will be an innately curious person who can display how you keep up to date on the latest research and technologies.

You understand how important it is that people have up to date and complete information when they are making important decisions about the lives of New Zealanders.

Who we are

The Social Investment Agency is a small government agency with a big mission – to do what works for better lives. We demonstrate the value of using data, technology, and people’s lived experience to support decision making across the social system. We trial and champion innovative ways government, NGOs and community can work together. Alongside service users we explore, test and develop tools and insights to help all parts of the social system do more of what works for better lives.

We opened our doors in July 2017 and are now moving from start-up, to grown-up. We’re out to add smart people to our permanent talent pool who are agile, curious and hardworking, and who instinctively care about the wellbeing of others. If that’s you – read on.

The Data Systems & Analytics team

The Data Systems & Analytics team supports data and analytics capability for the social sector, by acting as an integrator through the provision of the secure data exchange and developing analytical methods and products to measure outcomes for social wellbeing. The Senior Business Analyst will work across SIA’s business units.

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in critically identifying business issues and applying analytical techniques
  • Proven ability to translate technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Proficiency in business process modelling and re-engineering
  • Advanced facilitation and presentation skills
  • Strong process mapping and definition skills
  • Proven ability to understand information systems and technology concepts and issues
  • Familiarity with the SDLC and software development
  • A thorough understanding of data analytics and tools
  • A high level of interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate

We welcome enquiries from everyone and value diversity in our workforce.  Talk to us about what flexible work arrangements might work for both you and us.  You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this job.
