E hiahia ana mātau i tētahi tangata mō te tūranga, Kaiwhakahaere Kaupapa Māori, he tangata ngangahau hei mahi i ngā kaupapa rautaki i waenga i tō tātau rohe me te hunga whaipānga. He tūranga tino arotahi ana tēnei ki ngā whanaketanga Māori, te whakatinana mahinga ā-iwi, te ahurea, te ōhanga me ngā kaupapa taiao e pā ana ki te rohe.
Ko ētahi o ngā mahi:
- te whakawhanake i ngā kaupapa rautaki matua mō te Kaunihera
- te waihanga rōpū rangapū paihere mā te mahi tahi me te kōrero tah
- te whakatutuki whakamārama mo ngā kaupapa me ngā mahinga rautaki
- te whakaputa i ngā kaupapa/hōtaka i te wā e hiahia ai, me te utu kua whakaritea ai
- te hāpai me te tautoko i ngā kaupapa whānui o te Kaunihera
Ko ngā pukenga kia eke ai koe i tēnei tūranga:
- kua ū koe i ngā mahi whakawhanake kaupapa rautaki

We are currently seeking applications for a Policy Advisor who will actively engage across strategic areas while liaising with our community and key stakeholders. The role has a significant focus on Māori development, social implementation, cultural, economic and environmental community interests.
This role includes:
- Developing key strategy and policy advice to Council.
- Building strong partnerships through engagement and consultation.
- Delivering on policy and strategic advice.
- Delivering Projects/programmes on time and within budget.
- Contribution and participation in Council-wide initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Strategy and policy development experience.
- Exceptional relationship building and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working alongside Māori /Tangata Whenua & youth.
- An understanding of local government processes, functions & legislation (desirable).
- Strong local knowledge of the Tairawhiti region and experience working with Māori communities.
- Proficiency in teo reo Māori at intermediate or advanced level.
- Strong research, report, verbal, written and analytical skills.
- Project management experience.
