About our group and team
We are seeking a Senior Advisor to join our Governance team. The team leads the provision of good governance advice and support, ensuring senior leaders and boards receive insights and strategic advice that enables the Ministry to shape an education system that delivers equitable and excellent outcomes.
The team is part of Corporate Strategy and Performance (CSP), which is a single, centrally led planning, reporting and governance function, focused on providing end-to-end processes with a strong strategy and business improvement focus.
About this role
We are seeking a Senior Advisor who can provide technical expertise to help build organisation-wide governance capability and drive continuous improvement.
This includes the following:
- Ensuring Governance Board Chairs and their deputies receive quality advice that enables effective decision making and board operation, and leading a quality assurance process across papers, forward agendas and other governance products
- Contributing to the review and reset of the governance system at the enterprise level.
You will have experience with public sector governance and accountability processes and a tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience. We are looking for a professional with good relationship skills and the ability to work collaboratively with senior leaders and their teams across the Ministry. You need the ability to apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga to governance understandings, strong writing skills, and a proven ability to deliver as part of a team.
