We have a vacancy for a Resident Adviser in O’Rorke Hall for Semester 2, 2018. This is a challenging and rewarding employment opportunity to nurture the development of both academic achievement and life skills for current students at the University of Auckland.

This role is a live-in position, working 15 hours per week on rostered shifts.

Our Accommodation provide a safe, secure and supportive place for students to live and learn while attending the University. Accommodation is managed by a team of professional staff whose key purpose is to ensure the pastoral care and support to the academic efforts of residents. Our Resident Advisors form a vital part of this team.

Applications are invited from students who

  • Intend to be enrolled in a full-time course of study at the University of Auckland.
  • Will live in the accommodation allocated to them at O’Rorke Hall.
  • Fulfil their responsibilities for the full period to November 16th 2018.

Our successful applicant will have a high level of academic and personal achievement; they will be responsible, approachable, have a “can do” attitude and reflect the diversity that exists at the University of Auckland. They will understand the challenges and realities of the role and will support the students in their residence to make their time productive, meaningful and enjoyable.

A Resident Advisor is a “people person” with good communication skills who builds a strong sense of community in their residence. This position requires a high level of commitment and a successful applicant understands that this will be their primary area of employment. A Resident Advisor is critical to the wellbeing and success of their residents, having a “good RA” can make a huge difference to a student’s University experience.
