Applications are invited for the position of Research Technician in the Department of Pharmacology and Clinical Pharmacology, School of Medical Sciences, University of Auckland. The position is full-time for a period of two years based at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Grafton Campus.
Working in a cellular and molecular biology lab, you will be involved in research projects focussed on understanding the pathogenesis of diseases affecting joints such as gout and osteoarthritis. You will be responsible for optimising and performing laboratory assays and for training students and other group members in these techniques. You will also be involved in the day-to-day management of the laboratory which will involve ordering of consumables and ensuring the laboratory remains compliant with HSNO, MPI and human ethics requirements.
Skills and experience
Who we are looking for:
You will have previous research experience in at least some of the following techniques: cell culture, real time RT-qPCR, western blotting, transfection, immunohistochemistry and/or cloning. Previous experience teaching in a lab environment would also be beneficial. The ideal candidate will have a Masters degree or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline.
