Job Description

The opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join our team as a Research Programme Manager on a full-time, permanent basis.

This position has an emphasis on providing grant and project management support for researchers in the Faculty of Education and Social Work. This portfolio currently includes approximately 60 academic staff and 105 projects that vary in scale and complexity: projects may be publically-funded, private good, internal or consulting; grants may range in size from thousands to millions of dollars.

To be successful in this role, it will be important to:

  • Ensure systems and processes are in place to manage budgets, timeframes and risks
  • Develop productive working relationships with researchers and service partners
  • Understand and effectively communicate policies, funder guidelines and contract requirements.
  • Seek and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures

There is scope within the role to contribute to faculty research strategy and to be involved in the development of high-quality funding proposals.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a research-intensive environment and/or managing similar research projects
  • Proven knowledge of budget management and financial systems
  • Strong relationship building, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • The ability to work collaboratively or autonomously as required
  • Experience with interpreting financial reports and communicating key information to researchers.
