Job Description

Faculty of Education & Social Work

The University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education & Social Work provides for the education of teachers, social workers and counsellors, and supports the development of education and training in schools, colleges, social services as well as other professional settings.  Our collective commitment to the vision of Leading Learning, Changing Lives drives our teaching, learning and research.

Team Solutions has been one of New Zealand’s leading providers of professional development services for schools for over 30 years, delivering coaching, analysis and expert advice to school leaders and teachers focused on improving outcomes for learners.

We call on the combined experience of our more than 80 facilitators, sports mentors, reading recovery tutors and kaitoro to deliver professional learning and development with teachers and leaders all over the country.
Our whakatauki (proverb) Te kāhui akoranga ngaio (birds fly together) encapsulates the spirit of how we work cooperatively to create innovative professional learning and development projects specifically tailored to the unique circumstances of the individual teachers, leaders and organisations we work with.

We are looking for a part-time Reading Recovery Administrator to manage the administrative and communication activities of the Reading Recovery Tutor team, focused on raising literacy achievement for all learners in primary schools.

This is a fixed term opportunity, available from January 2018 until 31 December 2018.

The role

In this role, you’ll provide timely and efficient administrative support. Your duties will include:

  • Coordinating diaries, meetings, room bookings and travel arrangements
  • Word processing and photocopying
  • Providing an exceptional customer service to stakeholders
  • Occasional supervision of children on site for teaching sessions

Who are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, supporting multiple stakeholders, is essential.
Experience gained in the education sector will be an advantage.
  • You will have excellent customer service skills, underpinned by strong relationship-building abilities, which means you reliably and efficiently provide support to Reading Recovery Tutors, school principals and Team Solutions colleagues just to name a few.
  • You will be a gifted communicator, and be highly organised.
  • You’ll be computer literate, and proficient in the use of the Microsoft suite. Ideally, you’ll also be familiar with Google tools.

If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you! Applications must be submitted online, below. Queries about this position can be directed to Gayle McIlraith at g.mcilraith@auckland.ac.nz.
