Support all learners to ensure they have a successful journey while studying with the Pasifika Education Centre.
The Pasifika Education Centre (PEC) a Charitable Trust and Private Training Establishment (PTE) established in 1978 to deliver services to Pacific families in Aotearoa, New Zealand. It is New Zealand’s only NZ Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Registered PTE with NZQA Approved training schemes, specifically dedicated to teaching Pacific languages.
PEC delivers adult community educational programmes funded through the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) targeted at Pacific learners with the overall goal of thriving Pacific languages, cultures and identities, as well as cultural competency programmes to share our Pacific cultures with other New Zealanders.
As the Programmes & Student Coordinator (Pasifika), you will provide administrative support to the Programmes Lead & Curriculum Specialist (Pasifika) and contribute to all student related tasks. Part of your role will see you lead and implement activities relating to the students’ journey with PEC from pre-enrolment, enrolment, completion and exit including student liaison.
Key to your success will be your ability to efficiently and effectively manage student data. You will be conversant with information management systems, bringing your attention to detail and accuracy to ensure information is provided to NZQA and TEC, in a timely manner. Alongside your superb communication skills, you will bring your highly developed interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish relationships with other education providers, Pacific Service providers and Pacific communities.
Criteria for application is to include:
- A working understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the application of its principles.
- Ability to speak a Pacific language would be an advantage.
- High standards and personal work ethics.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in education, social services or in a similar data-management capacity.
- Organisation skills and time management; with the ability to prioritise and multi-task.
- Sound understanding of risk management processes and procedures.
- Ability to deliver and meet targets within timeframes.
- Knowledge of the NZQA framework and programme accreditation framework.
- Superb communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships internal and externally.
- A full, clean drivers licence.
The educational programmes are designed to be responsive to the changing needs of Pasifika communities to maximise individual success; and are reflective of Pasifika cultural values. As such, you will have an affinity to Pacific cultural values and beliefs; and demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the application of its principles.
Experience in a similar role, with some leadership or sole management experience is highly desirable, as would experience working with adult learners and/or foundation learners or within a Pacific workplace environment. You will contribute to the overall success and functioning of PEC to meet organisational goals, by demonstrating a commitment to their mission, strategic direction and policies,
