Job Description

he Faculty of Science – Exercise Sciences

We are New Zealand’s leading academic programme in Exercise Sciences. Our teaching and research seeks to understand how physical activity changes the human body when it is growing, performing, and how ageing and disease impact being physically active. The Department of Exercise Sciences brings together exercise and sport psychology, movement neuroscience, biomechanics, exercise metabolism and exercise physiology to investigate the role of exercise and physical activity in sustaining health, improving disease outcomes and enhancing human performance.

The successful appointee will have a postgraduate degree in Exercise Sciences or related discipline and a commitment to high-quality, research-informed teaching. Applicants from any field within Exercise Sciences are encouraged to apply. Aptitude and interest in exercise prescription, physiology, and clinical exercise physiology is required. Professional certification as a clinical exercise physiologist is also required, e.g., RCEP (ACSM), CEPNZ, CSEP, or AEP (ESSA).  Previous teaching experience in the tertiary sector will be an advantage. The appointee will be expected to teach clinical skills in a best-practice clinical setting, and coordinate and teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The appointee will be expected to serve on departmental committees and in other capacities that may benefit the Department.

The appointment will be made at Professional Teaching Fellow, Level 1.
