About the role
The overall purpose of the role is to contribute strongly as part of an innovative and growing team in order to deliver a transformational learning experience for postgraduate engineering students, with learning outcomes which are relevant for the modern engineering profession.
There are three main areas of responsibility, namely teaching, industry employer liaison and service (split 40/40/20 %).
For teaching component, the role requires somebody to undertake high quality teaching and facilitate experiential learning in the areas of engineering professionalism as identified by engineering professional bodies such as Engineering New Zealand. These include subjects in multi-disciplinary areas such as commercial skills, health and safety, management and ethical decision making. Responsibilities will include leading, planning and delivery of workshops, tutorials, lectures, project supervisions and the assessment of students.
For the employer liaison component, the role will involve development and management of industry linkages with focus on postgraduate projects and internships relevant to postgraduate engineering programmes. Responsibilities will include components of relationship management, operations management of student projects linked to industry, and the facilitation of student readiness initiatives. The purpose of this component of the role is to grow industry relationships, co-ordinate projects across academic staff and oversea a student readiness programme.
For the service component, the role will be assist the Director of Graduate School in the development and management of our taught postgraduate programmes. To contribute to the activities of, and to perform service roles for the Faculty of Engineering, the Graduate School of Engineering and the Engineering Departments.
Our ideal candidate
It is essential that you have the Professional Engineering Qualification, CMEngNZ or equivalent. A proof of high teaching quality delivered in courses, seminars, workshops in the field of engineering will make you a great fit especially if you have a successful track record of teaching and supervision in the postgraduate level. It will be a bonus if you have worked on international engineering projects and have shown commitment to this profession.
Significant part of this role requires a good command of the English communication skills with proven ability to interact with postgraduate students with effective and innovative teaching skills and stong collaboration with stakeholders.
