We welcome applications from people wanting to work in the Ministry of Education’s Performance and Quality Team as a Practice and Implementation Adviser in the Wellington Region. Our region has offices based in Lower Hutt, Porirua, Masterton and Otaki, and although we prefer Lower Hutt to be the base office of the successful candidate, we will consider an alternative base office if necessary.

The Performance and Quality team members work with colleague’s across the Ministry, supporting regional performance and quality, identifying opportunities to build the capability of our workforce to empower and support parents as well as the educational workforce.

The successful candidate will hold a portfolio covering a range of specialist service delivery work which will include the following:

  • The development of a clear picture of current Ministry resources to support children and young people, whānau, early childhood services and schools
  • Supporting any agreed changes and assisting with the implementation of service improvements
  • Assistance with building workforce capability through professional learning and development
  • Developing Ministry wide relationships to ensure that services are well connected and understood
  • Contributing to the overall work programme of the Performance and Quality team

Applicants for the position should be able to demonstrate the following key attributes:

  • Strong practice knowledge that is transferable across our range of specialist services
  • Ability to plan and manage time effectively to meet goals and objectives
  • Knowledge and understanding of inclusive education practices.
  • Ability and willingness to work co-operatively as a team member in a range of contexts
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity and commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
  • The ability to work flexibly and with ambiguity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Energy and resilience for facilitating change in the region’s practices
  • Strong planning and coordination skills
  • The ability to interpret data to make informed decisions would be an advantage

A relevant tertiary qualification as well as a full driver’s licence as travel is a requirement of this role.
