At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga – Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary.

Our organisation is made up of talented and committed people around Aotearoa, from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. While we work in different groups and on different things, we all strive every day to make the biggest difference we can for every child, young person and adult student in our education system.

About us

Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $20.1 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day.

Our vision for school property is that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio that helps deliver equitable and excellent outcomes for every child.

Mō tēnei tūranga – About this role

You will be part of Te Rautaki Rawa Kura – the School Property Strategy, which shares our vision and direction for school property management and you will be responsible for the management of the Ministry’s portfolio of temporary accommodation buildings.

The initial focus of this role will be to document the location, ownership, condition and use of the current transportable accommodation portfolio, identifying opportunities for improvement to how transportable accommodation is planned, organized and managed. Based on this knowledge the role would then develop a forward work programme that compliments the redevelopment and roll growth work pipelines.

Mōhou ake – About you

You will demonstrate a strong mix of skills and experience within a large and complex delivery organisation and have a track record of success and results in a management role that involved strategic and financial/operational management accountability and a high need for stakeholder engagement. To be successful in this role you will need as follows:

  • Prior experience within infrastructure/property management
  • Proven ability and experience of leading a team to develop asset management maturity

In your cover letter we’d like to know:
