About our group and team
Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education. One in five children and young people receive some form of learning support throughout their early learning and schooling education.
The Service Support team provides advice and guidance to Ministers, national and regional staff, and input into cross agency work to support the development and delivery of evidence-informed services and support. Some of the current portfolios include: school-based wellbeing initiatives, bullying prevention, behavioural intervention and students at risk of disengagement.
