Are you a professionally – trained social worker? Are you passionate around teaching the next generation of social workers?
At Unitec, The School of Social Practice teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Social Work with a focus on Community Development. We recognise inequality as the source of many of the problems facing our communities, and we have an explicit commitment to social justice and human rights.
As a Lecturer in Social Practice, you’ll be part of a diverse team delivering our Social Practice programme. You’ll teach our students about the significance of cultural, historical and social contexts in the shaping of people’s lives. You’ll use your knowledge base in mātauranga Māori to nurture students in their development as Treaty-based practitioners’.
For this position we are seeking a practitioner with the background required to teach on our Talanoa Pasifika course, you will have knowledge of the Pacific and Pacific peoples. You would teach on additional courses as well, to be negotiated.

Most importantly, we’re on the lookout for a high performing professional, who thrives on building professional relationships with staff, students and industry stakeholders. You enjoy staying on top of research developments in your field and are interested in sharing your knowledge with others through teaching and dissemination of research
You’re an experienced professional within the field of Social Practice with interest in research and education. You will hold the minimum of a Masters qualification and are a registered social worker.
