Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Chemistry
The School of Science at Auckland University of Technology invites applications for two Lecturer / Senior Lecturer positions beginning February 2024 or thereafter. Exceptional applicants with research interests in any area of chemistry, including materials chemistry, biological chemistry and biochemistry are encouraged to apply.

About the role
Successful candidates are expected to maintain an impactful and productive research programme; teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students effectively; perform academic and administration management linked to teaching, research, and leadership; and engage with academic communities within AUT, nationally and internationally. When appropriate, the successful candidates will also spend around 3-4 weeks/year in Shanghai, teaching courses in our joint BSc programme with Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT). One of these positions also includes a role as the programme leader for the joint AUT-SIT Chemistry BSc.
Skills and experience
- A doctoral degree in chemistry or a related area.
- At least one year of relevant postdoctoral, academic, or industrial experience.
- A robust research agenda and a demonstrated commitment to the education and success of students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- A track record of collaborative research.

The Chemistry Department is part of the School of Science, within the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences. The School of Science is also home to the Departments of Environmental Science, Biomedicine and Medical Diagnostics, and Food Science and Microbiology. We run a BSc programme in Chemistry and are currently developing programmes in Materials Science and in Biological and Medicinal Chemistry. At the postgraduate level we offer 1- and 2-year MSc programmes as well as a rapidly growing chemistry PhD programme. Since 2003, we have also run a joint BSc chemistry programme with Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT) for which several staff travel to China to teach each year.

Salary Range: $85,584 – $137,107 (appointment level and salary commensurate with skills and experience)
