2 x Part time (0.5 FTE) Fixed Term positions!

This position will contribute to Counties Manukau Health (CMH) achieving health equity for Maaori by supporting Maaori Midwives to develop their capacity and capability to respond to the needs of Hapu Mama and their whaanau.

This is a key leadership position supporting transformation to a fully integrated “whole of system” approach for Maaori in partnership with the Maaori Health Leadership Team and Manawhenua – to ensure that Counties Manukau Health becomes a leader in the provision of services for Hapu Mama and their whaanau.

This will be achieved by:

  • Providing leadership in Maaori Midwifery
  • Engaging with Mana Whenua and Maaori Communities to establish the strategic priorities for Maaori Maternity, Maaori Midwifery and services to Mama, Pepe and Tamariki
  • Building and maintaining strong external working relationships with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGO) Primary Health organisations (PHOs) and Tertiary Education Providers
  • Delivering a strong focus on quality improvement that enables innovation and challenges practice.
  • Optimises research opportunities with tertiary education partners that build a stronger evidence base for effective services to Hapu Mama and their whaanau
  • Leading and engaging the sector on Maaori Health and workforce issues at a national, regional and organisational level. Including the development of a Maaori Midwifery School and Bachelors of Midwifery (Maaori Midwifery).

Essential:

  • A postgraduate level qualification in Midwifery
  • Senior midwife with 5+ years extensive clinical midwifery experience
  • Recent proven leadership and/or management experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of hospital and community service needs
  • Experience in implementation of service improvements and quality initiatives
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with Maaori stakeholders
  • Experience of ensuring clinical governance standards are part of service design, ensuring high quality clinical service and client safety is paramount
  • Track record of delivering change
