Te Wānanga o Aotearoa is a unique Māori learning environment for all New Zealanders and is the second largest education supplier in the nation.
As a result of continuous innovation and commitment to setting the standards within the industry, an exceptional, senior position has been released to market. The primary function of the Kaiarataki Ako Lead – Educational Delivery, is to lead, implement, manage and monitor programme delivery in the takiwā.
Leading the planning and implementation of programme delivery, whilst managing the implementation and compliance of quality management systems. You will oversee and manage quality improvement (teaching and learning) and teaching standards and maintain oversight of academic processes, of educational performance and of achievement and procedures.
Reporting to the head of Educational Delivery, you will liaise with a diverse group of both internal and external stakeholders including Iwi, Hapū and the community, having the mana and confidence to be able to engage and interact effectively with a broad range of stakeholders with ease.
The ideal applicant will be able to demonstrate:
- A Masters in education or related discipline.
- 5+ years people leadership and management.
- A minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience.
- The demonstration of the development of Kaiako, professional development plans and the management of an environment of continuous improvement.
- Being research active with 3+ published and peer reviewed outputs per annum.
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures and NZ Qualifications Framework.
- A knowledge of Te Reo me ona tikanga Māori.
- Mentoring, leadership and management skills, honed in an educational setting.

Supporting site accreditation and reaccreditation processes, you will – ensure all programmes offered are managed to the requirements of the curriculum, accreditation documentation and approval processes.
Manage professional development, training, mentoring and performance management, you will support and resolve any issue relating to Kaiako competence and their ability to provide high quality programme delivery as well as increasing the number of Kaiako identified as being ‘research active’.
