About the assignment
Use your HR experience to improve management practice at the Friendly Island Shipping Agency (FISA).
In this hands-on assignment, you will help to develop clear HR policies that meet government requirements and enable positive relationships between the company and its employees. The Agency has encountered challenges due to cultural and organisational difficulties associated with performance review and remuneration in Tonga. As a ‘neutral’ volunteer you will help to bridge the gap, carrying out performance and pay reviews to ensure all employees are fairly compensated.
With a strong focus on coaching and on-the-job training, you will leave the HR team with stronger skills in line with best practice and a fairly compensated workforce that understands its rights and obligations.
This is a 18-month assignment based in Nuku’alofa.
We are looking for a volunteer with:
- Significant experience in HR, preferably at management level, with a broad knowledge of HR best practice
- Knowledge and experience in HR policy development
- Knowledge and experience in performance and remuneration reviews
- Knowledge and experience in recruitment and employee engagement
- Ability to or experience in training/and or mentoring other HR professionals
