Mō te tūnga | The role

The Financial Insights Analyst role is officially part of our Design Analyst job family, it is a permanent full-time role based in our Christchurch office. You will report to the Manager – Financial Insights

Within this role you will be able to have significant impact by:

  • Producing impartial financial statistics which are used to shape policy and support packages for businesses in these challenging times.
  • Improving our toolset for data collection, analysis, and release.
  • Positively changing our measurement of business finances to better reflect the rapidly changing NZ economy.
  • Finding ways to reduce the burden on the businesses we measure, by using administrative data, modelling, and changing our survey design.

Starting salary: $76,571-84,679 negotiable

 Mōu | About you

  • A passion for financial data and economics (accounting and system of national accounts experience and qualifications would be particularly beneficial).
  • Strong analytical abilities – identifying unexpected results, investigating causes, and interpreting the findings to produce credible statistics.
  • Experience resolving conceptually and technically challenging problems.
  • An eye for opportunities and a drive to see changes implemented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence a range of people and produce plain English documentation.
  • Experience with programming languages and a variety of applications (R, SAS and MEP/bespoke system experience would be particularly beneficial) to an intermediate or advanced level.
  • Knowledge/familiarity or a commitment to learning/understanding Te Ao Māori, in order to understand and contribute meaningful work and outcomes for Māori communities.
