About our team

The ESOL, Migrant, Refugee, and International team is a dedicated and passionate group of professionals who work hard to ensure that all migrant, former refugee, and international students receive the support they need to meet their full potential at primary and secondary school. Our team supports schools throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand with advice, resources, and funding. We are based in Auckland, but also have advisors in the regions.

About the role

The person in this role is responsible for implementing ESOL verification in schools to ensure that English language learners are accurately assessed to determine eligibility for ESOL funding. The ESOL verifier will also provide advice and guidance to schools on the effective provision of ESOL support.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of a bachelors degree, a TESSOL qualification, and a teaching qualification.

You will also offer:

  • recent experience teaching in New Zealand primary, intermediate, and/or secondary schools (experience as an ESOL specialist is desirable)
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • a sound understanding of principles of second language acquisition, including a thorough understanding of principles of assessment
  • the ability to write clearly, concisely, and accurately in English.
