AUT’s Faculty of Business, Economics and Law provides world-class education and research across a range of disciplines.
Known for its relevance and connections, the Faculty has an awesome opportunity for a new Director of Student, Business and Community Partnerships. This is a critical role all about ‘partnering for impact’ and creating and leveraging opportunities for staff and students to engage – with business, the professions, community and alumni partners.
Working with high autonomy, you will lead and deliver the Faculty’s strategy for systematically developing, maintaining and maximising deep and multi-layered strategic external relationships and partnerships. You’ll provide a critical ‘bridge’ with partners to facilitate and support effective and in-depth relationships and partnerships, while also cultivating and participating in strategic initiatives to advance key Faculty social agendas such as Diversity and Inclusion, opportunities for Māori and Pacific staff and students and employability for all. This role is a highly visible external face for the Faculty, constantly seeking ways to enhance and facilitate strategic connections. It has one direct report.
What kind of person are we looking for?
We need a strong stakeholder relationship manager who has proven outcomes of external partnerships progressed and deepened, ideally including large complex organisations. Focussing on partnerships in a systematic and strategic manner will be critical. This person will need to enjoy working collaboratively with our exceptional academics and understand the importance of maintaining excellent internal communication. An outgoing and inquisitive nature is critical, as are highly developed influencing and negotiation skills!
Applications and Key Selection Criteria

- A postgraduate degree in business, law or a related discipline
- Substantial experience in an externally focussed educational institution, corporate or business association engagement role, successfully identifying, developing and maintaining partner relationships
- Experience critically analysing existing and future partnership opportunities and outcomes
- Experience contributing to social agenda initiatives such as Diversity and Inclusion, opportunities for Māori and Pacific and employability for all
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills
