About our team

The Web and Applications Services team provides Business Analysis, Development, and Testing for priority business applications. We ensure that the applications used throughout the ministry (and increasingly by the wider Education Sector) are available when they are needed, are reliable and are of high quality. We provide resources, including staff, for projects. Once a project is delivered the Web and Applications Services team is responsible for supporting it.

About the role

The Developer is responsible for building and supporting software systems that are efficient, effective and provide value to the business. The Developer also provides technical assistance during the design and development of systems. The role makes a valuable contribution to the Ministry of Education, delivering excellent and equitable outcomes.

The role reports to the Application Development Manager, and works within a team of developers working on a variety of small business systems. The Developer liaises with other technical specialists, business people, teams and vendors.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have technical skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

You will also offer the following:

  • Confidence using Visual Studio, Resharper, Azure DevOps, and Git
  • Experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, Angular, KockoutJS, and Entity Framework.
  • Experience implementing web applications and APIs
  • Ability to support websites running on either Windows Server and Azure App Service
  • Confidence writing code that is SOLID and DRY
  • Confidence with SQL Server, writing stored procs and queries with T-SQL
  • Experience with, or desire to learn about, agile software development methodologies, production support and test driven development
  • Proven ability to work in a small, close knit team, and to communicate with a variety of audiences, at both a general business level and technical level
