Mō te tūnga | The roles

Te tīma oranga me ngā whare noho (the wellbeing and housing team) is seeking up to 3 Insights/Design Analysts with an interest in wellbeing data, strong technical skills, and a can-do attitude to join a passionate, supportive, and high-performing team.

The roles will contribute to all stages of the General Social Survey from content design, to data collection, all the way through to release and beyond. Working with other team members, you will take responsibility for key work on data manipulation, quality assurance, analysis and insights to produce high quality releases that meet the needs of stakeholders. You will also contribute to the wider work of the team, which includes responsibility for Te Kupenga (the Māori Social Survey) and subject matter expertise in housing, homelessness, and wellbeing.

Starting salary: $76,571 – $90,084 depending on skills and experience.

Location: Flexible, Wellington or Christchurch preferred.

If you are an analyst with a keen interest in the wellbeing of New Zealanders, good technical ability and a willingness to ‘get stuck in’ with the rest of the team, these roles might be for you.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have strong technical skills, ideally with experience using R and/or SAS
  • Have a background in, or able to demonstrate your interest in, wellbeing statistics, with the ability to pick up a broad range of diverse subject matter quickly and easily
  • Be a strong team player, with the ability to support and mentor others
  • Have a demonstrated ability to manipulate, analyse and tell meaningful stories with data
  • Have excellent spoken and written communication skills and good attention to detail
  • Have familiarity with, or a commitment to learn and understand, Te Ao Māori
  • Have experience leading projects/outputs
