Mana Recruitment Ltd – Posted by Mana Recruitment Ltd.Auckland, New Zealand

Job Description

Support the Chief Executive and provide senior leadership and support functions to effectively deliver influential advice with Te Tiriti and Te Ao Māori view at the forefront.

Kei ngā kaihoe o tō tatou waka hauora, nau mai haere atu ēnei kupu whakatau i a koutou.  Hoea atu rā ki te ākau whakaoho i te mahara kia toitū ai te ora o te tangata, o te whānau, o te marae, o te iwi.  Arahina ō tātou iwi ki te pae Māori; ki te pae hihiri; ki te pae ora!

Ko wai mātou – Who are we?

Te Mana Hauora Māori | The Māori Health Authority (MHA) has been set up to enable greater Māori participation in the design and delivery of health services for the betterment of all.  This will be achieved by embedding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi as central components of Aotearoa New Zealand’s health reform.

The MHA will play an essential role in enhancing Māori rangatiratanga, ensuring everyone has the equitable access to healthcare and supporting whānau to take control of their own health and wellbeing. The MHA will work in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Health New Zealand (HNZ) and enable Iwi-Māori Partnerships Boards (IMPBs), Māori health providers, iwi, hapū and Māori communities to achieve Māori health aspirations.

The MHA will be the primary source of strategy and policy for hauora Māori. The organisation will identify and monitor equitable health outcomes and will be responsible for leading the development of the Māori health workforce and the direct commissioning of kaupapa Māori services. The newly created role of Deputy Chief Executive – Chief of Staff is a critical role that will help transform the sector through a cultural lens and the opportunity to influence inequity within the system.

Te āhua o Te Tūrunga – The nature of the position

DCE Chief of Staff supports the Chief Executive (CE) through the provision of high-quality advice, managing issues on their behalf, and acting as their ‘eyes and ears’ within the organisation to facilitate solutions, manage connections, and ensure delivery. You will provide direct support to the CE to ensure that they are fully informed on all matters relevant to their role in leading MHA and in their wider system leadership roles, with a strong focus on collaboration and coordination across MHA, HNZ, the MoH and key stakeholders.

Delivering integrated advice and guidance focused on Te Tiriti o Waitangi and health aspirations of whānau, there is a strong emphasis on cross agency leverage and supporting the broader MHA functions. You will foster connectivity between two often opposing worldviews and create foundations and frameworks on which to build a solid and united future strategy through a Māori lens.

The position requires a dynamic and innovative style of leadership, positioning you as an influencer of strategy and organisational culture within the sector.

Utilising our common set of values, you will lead a culture that enables all employees to learn and grow, to deliver a responsive and trusted service. Ensuring career growth and development, you will position MHA to be the preferred employer by Māori professionals. As a public face of MHA, the position will enable you to create meaningful networks with iwi/hapū, key officials, Ministers, and other key stakeholders, keeping your knowledge of the Health and Disability sector current, and the CE appraised.

This position can be based in either Auckland or Wellington and will include regular domestic travel.
