Mō te tūnga | The Role

In your role as a Data Collections Specialist, you will report to a Team Leader – Data Collection and work in close partnership with other Data Collection teams, to build relationships with the business and social communities of Aotearoa, enabling collection of data from all types of respondents via their channel of choice. The role is about providing a great user experience for respondents – one that builds trust, is seamless, convenient, safe and recognises their contribution to Aotearoa. Requirements in your role may change with the needs of the organisation. The role has two key components. Firstly, it requires calling or e-mailing selected businesses and/or households to conduct interviews via a channel of their choice and provide precontact support. The second component involves visiting selected households to conduct face-to-face interviews. We will set you up to work from home, and provide you with the equipment, training, and on-going support you need to succeed and remain safe while carrying out your work.

Starting Salary: $ 47,461.00

Mōu | About you

  •  2 plus years’ experience working in customer service or a similar field
  •  Attention to detail and high-quality output
  •  Sense of civic duty and passion for serving the community
  •  Understands the Treaty of Waitangi’s relevance to own role as a public servant and seeks opportunities to better meet the information needs of Māori
  •  Actively applies knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga and build knowledge of te ao Māori while supporting initiatives to increase responsiveness to Māori, iwi and hapu
  •  A data kaitiaki (guardian) who acknowledges an individual’s right to own and protect data, yet can articulate and sell how a respondent’s data contributes to their community and Aotearoa
  •  Strong customer focus, communication and interpersonal skills
  •  Ability to negotiate challenging situations in order to achieve our outcomes
  •  Work at times that suit survey participants, which will include evenings and weekends
  •  Develop knowledge of local areas and connection to different social, cultural, or business groups
  •  Ability to build and maintain strong relationships quickly
  •  Adaptable and open to new, innovative approaches to gathering data
  •  Digital and technical literacy
  •  Good time-management skills
  •  Collaborates effectively with other teams and subject matter experts
  •  Has a continuous improvement mindset and speaks up about new ideas; challenges the status quo
  •  Promotes and practices health safety and wellbeing
  •  Positive, self-motivated, and keen to develop new skills
  •  Have access to fast and reliable internet service at home, which will be used for work-related activity
