Mō te tūnga | The role

We are looking for a dynamic Individual who is truly passionate about making a difference in their community. This is a fixed term role. You will be reporting to the Regional Manager and working alongside the Senior Advisor. You will also work closely with other regional teams engaging and supporting communities. This role will be contributing to key milestones of achieving the most inclusive census.

We are a newly established team where you will play a key role in navigating approaches to make sure our communities voices are heard so they can see themselves in the Census data. Your engagement skills, embedding whanaungatanga and awhi mai, awhi atu will be paramount.

Salary range: $68,106 – $92,144 negotiable depending on the successful applicants’ experience.

As an authentic communicator, natural relationship builder and engagement specialist you see relationships as a way of being.

To work in this fast-paced environment you’ll bring the following skills and experience with you:

  • A level fluency in Te Reo Māori, an understanding of tikanga and has extensive experience working with Māori and Iwi
  • Ability to respond to Iwi, Māori and hāpu, and understands actions that reflect Treaty partnerships
  • Established relationships in our communities
  • Strong cultural competence; able to understand and respond to the needs of communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in uplifting communities, including but not limited to; Māori, Pacific People, Youth, and Ethnically Diverse
  • Experience in building stakeholder trust and confidence and ability as a community connector, collaborator, and facilitator.
  • Self-managing, resilient and self-directed with a high degree of personal accountability. Able to balance workload with sense of self.
  • Well connected, self-starter and passionate about making a difference in your community.
  • Understanding the complexity and cultural diversity of Pasifika communities through use of language and cultural knowledge
