Community Engagement Advisor

Safekids Aotearoa, Starship Child Health

Safekids Aotearoa has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and hard-working individual to join the evolving Starship service as a Community Engagement Advisor

  • Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Monday – Friday
  • Based at the Greenlane Clinical Centre
  • Involves domestic overnight travel

Safekids Aotearoa is the injury prevention service within Starship Child Health (Auckland DHB). Partnering with a national network of community providers, we design and implement programmes at a national level that have a potential impact on the safety of children. Our mission is to reduce the incidence and severity of unintentional injuries to children aged 0 to 14 years, so children of Aotearoa are free to enjoy their childhood without being adversely affected by unintentional injuries.

As our national Safekids service continues to expand, we are seeking a Community Engagement Advisor to establish and build strong relationships with our community organisations.

As the Community Engagement Advisor you will provide full support to our stakeholders/ organisations to deliver child injury prevention messages and initiatives. You will upkeep solid working relationships with our diverse stakeholders and be able to develop these community relationships going forward. You will enhance the injury prevention knowledge and capability of the providers we meet in order to extend the reach of Safekids’ behavioural and environmental change programmes. You will play a key role in promoting and organising workshops; seminars and public events. You will assist with the delivery of training sessions including being able to confidently facilitate.
