Te āhua o ngā tūranga – The nature of the positions

Position 1: Community & Content Manager – $65,000 – $75,000

The Community and Content Manager will play a key role in ensuring all digital presence is mana-enhancing of pakihi Māori and the wider Whāriki kaupapa. Shaping content strategy and delivering key messages effectively through the creation of engaging content; and reporting across a range of digital channels, will call for extensive experience.

This position requires a content all-rounder; someone with strong multi-media skills, written, design and video who has experience in interpreting data to inform campaigns. Expect to work across a range of projects creating relationships internally and with strategic partners. Regularly planning, creating, and scheduling content across all social media accounts, you will review analytics to inform social media strategies and future activities, to successfully increase engagement and grow online audiences. This role would suit a digital marketer looking for a new and varied challenge with a specific focus on Māori business.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Wheako – Essential skills/experiences for the role.

  • Solid experience in digital marketing, communications supported by strong multi-media skills.
  • Significant experience of working in a digital marketing or a content creation role
  • Proven experience in community management.
  • Experience using CMS & database management.
  • Understanding of te reo me ōna tikanga.
  • Experience of video production, including filming, editing, and delivering via digital channels, including webinar production.

Position 2: Project Manager – (Tāmaki Makaurau Focus) – $75,000 – $85,000

This is an exciting and broad ranging position, one which centralises the management of key relationships and partnerships with Whāriki partners and stakeholders and provides an awesome opportunity for someone who is a super connector and strong advocate for uplifting pakihi Māori.

Second to this, this role will also deliver projects with Whāriki’s key private and corporate sector partners across the motu. We’re looking for someone with superior project management skills, the ability to coordinate multiple work streams, experience in building a digital community and working on kaupapa Māori focused projects.

Working alongside the Whāriki team, your remit is to proactively build partnerships and deliver initiatives to support organisational Whāriki kaupapa, pakihi and wider business network. Responsible for the management of a programme of key Whāriki initiatives with key partners, you will take the lead in event management and delivery of key Whāriki in person and at digital events.

Taking every opportunity to recognise and take advantage of opportunities to promote Whāriki name, reputation, and service, you will have a real willingness to learn and “get out of your comfort zone”. Contributing to the business development of Whāriki by undertaking active business development on team initiatives, you will pride yourself on your relationship and engagement skills.

Your experience in digital marketing and communications supported by your influencing and relationship building expertise will support you to thrive in this innovative role.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Whēako – Essential skills/experiences for the role

  • Can demonstrate strong networks and extensive relationships with Iwi/Māori and capability that sees you access your networks to innovate and influence change.
  • Strong understanding of Tikanga Māori, Te Ao Māori and Mātauranga Māori and the ability to engage appropriately in Māori settings.
  • Project management and delivery focused, taking full responsibility for the management of key Whāriki initiatives with our partners and pakihi.
  • Excellent event management skills as well as experience in delivering digital/ virtual events.
  • Ability to build networks, develop genuine relationships and partnerships, quickly building credibility and trust within our community.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, ability to build networks, develop partnerships quickly building credibility and trust. Specific ability to establish and build on effective. working relationships with our partners such as Facebook, Air New Zealand, Spark and our regional sister network, Whāriki Te Tai Tokerau.
  • Project management and delivery taking full responsibility for the management of key Whāriki initiatives with key partners across the motu.
  • Excellent communications skills, oral and written.

Both positions are 12-month fixed term and will call to individuals who are keen to play a key role in ensuring Whāriki’s digital presence is culturally aligned, creative and innovative.
