What does Creative Waikato do?

Arts and creativity are vital and integral to the wellbeing of the Waikato and its citizens.

Creative Waikato helps creatives in the region succeed by providing advice, training and support.  They build connections and work collaboratively for stronger and more expansive outcomes.  The Creative Waikato team share stories of the Waikato region’s creativity, expand audiences and champion the contribution that the arts make to our collective and individual wellbeing.

Creative Waikato are a small and vibrant team of optimists and doers.  They believe deeply in the value of creativity and enthusiastically grasp opportunities and have fun doing it!

The Chief Executive Role

Creative Waikato’s new Chief Executive will be responsible for ensuring the primary objectives of the organisation are met.  These objectives include promoting and increasing public participation in the arts, advocacy for arts experiences in the region and their benefit to communities, increasing the profile of the arts and ensuring that the region is recognised and celebrated for its creativity.  To do this effectively, the Chief Executive also has an integral role in securing and increasing funding resources for the arts in the region.

The key competencies in this role are relationship management, business development, leadership, organisational performance, creativity, initiative and enterprise.   This Chief Executive role is a rare opportunity to change the landscape of the arts sector in the Waikato.

Are you a Visionary Leader?

We are searching for an enthusiastic and visionary leader who has extensive experience in the Arts sector, is well connected nationally and regionally, has a proven track record of developing and nurturing stakeholder relationships, and has a track record of managing a thriving organisation.

The additional skills we’re looking for include critical thinking, financial acumen and an ability to empower others to achieve their goals for the greater good of the arts.  We are looking for a leader who has respect and familiarity for tikanga Māori, as well as a willingness to embrace and encourage Te Ao Māori in the workplace and arts community.

Personally, you will have a real strength of character, oodles of energy, a warm personality and an authentic leadership style that engages a wide range of individuals.
