Liggins Institute

The Liggins Institute at The University of Auckland has an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join their busy team on a casual basis.

This role will be working in the LiFEPATH group which is a collegial, multidisciplinary team including scientists and clinicians conducting translational research that examines clinical problems at a molecular level, through whole animal physiology to clinical trial and application. Our research programme focuses on how maternal, fetal and neonatal nutrition and the intrauterine environment affect fetal and postnatal growth, childhood development and lifelong health.

The Opportunity

  • Liaise with families taking part in the studies and obtain informed consent and arrange assessment appointments, building relationships and trust with them
  • Assist with coordination and travel arrangements for families and assessors where necessary
  • Support the assessment team including performing parts of the assessment (anthropometric measurements, developmental assessments, medical imaging, questionnaires) where appropriate
  • Study data collected to ensure it has been accurately recorded and sent to the Data Management Centre in a timely and confidential manner

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have a relevant qualification in the health, education or psychology sector
  • Must hold a current driver’s license
  • Training as a nurse/Maori health worker/teacher/social worker will be looked at favourably


This is a Professional level 4 position

Please note this position is on a casual basis at a rate of $32 per hour and is based in Waikato

This is a fixed term position until 31/07/2020
