Muaūpoko Tribal Authority (MTA) was established in 1997 as an Incorporated Society.  Its main purpose is to protect Muaūpoko identity, assets and to build a stronger economic, social and culture base for Muaūpoko people.

MTA continues to support Muaūpoko Iwi member aspirations in all spheres and is recognised as the representative Iwi organisation for Muaūpoko; delivering broad ranging services from Taiao, Community, Health, Whānau Ora, Education, Fisheries to Iwi development, advocacy and representation.

Muaūpoko Vision is Whakahono kia tū kaha Muaūpoko. This is about developing a base and ability to stand strong and unite, so that together Muaūpoko people control their destiny.

Taitoko, Horowhenua

Business Support and Planning Lead

Leading a small, centralised team who deliver integral backbone support and executive/operational administration requirements – including communications – to the Iwi and Community Services Business, this position will draw on the skills of an experienced business generalist with strong financial skills.

Supporting the CEO, Board and Business leads – this role has overview of finance function, services contracts budgets, cash flow, grant process, audit, accreditations, risk and assurance processes.  This position will ensure that annual and strategic business planning processes are in place, costs are closely managed and quality assurance frameworks are operational. As the successful candidate – you will have broad fiscal knowledge alongside strong business experience and skills within policy and quality frameworks.

Managing supplier relationships, property projects and contract effectiveness, you will be a commercially astute operator; with sound negotiation skills, and a personal reputation as strong, flexible and unflappable. Driven by a love of creating order from ambiguity and deriving joy from seeing things “done properly” – you will have a track record of working with a wide variety of stakeholders alongside a level of experience which enables you to quickly embed a backbone support service which empowers and enables the Muaūpoko Tribal Authority team, and Iwi members to stand strong and thrive.

The role is influential, varied and will provide a significant opportunity for you to contribute to the future of Muaūpoko Iwi, hapū and Whanau members.  There is a need for applicants to demonstrate the ability to build, strengthen and maintain inter sectorial collaboration, keep the interests of Muaūpoko members as paramount, build stakeholder relationships experience in strategic planning, financial management, resource allocation and negotiation

A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, as is a passion for improving outcomes for tamariki Māori and whānau. An understanding and respect of Te Reo me ona tikanga, and the relationships that exist within Te Ao Māori – marae, whānau, hapū and iwi is essential.
