“The Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs is in a unique position to build New Zealand’s diversity and richness through enabling Pacific contribution as a whole.”

The Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs is the Government’s policy advice agency with the mandate through government policy and resourcing – to advise, support and promote appropriate actions across the government sector in order to improve outcomes for Pacific peoples.

If the provision of high-quality administrative and support services at the Chief Executive level comes naturally to you and you thrive in a complex environment which has a diverse range of stakeholders then this role is tailor made for you.

This is a crucial position within the Chief Executive’s office and your considerable experience at this level means you are comfortable working as a contributing member of an executive team. You will be at ease working within the level of confidentiality that such a position and working environment requires. An understanding of the process of Government would be a further advantage.

The core Executive Assistant responsibilities, accountabilities and competencies at a senior level form the basis of this role, however you may be required, from time-to-time, to research topics and monitor trends. Key also will be your decisiveness and your ability to ensure that progress on decisions and outputs agreed at senior leadership meetings are followed up.

The Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs operates with a vision of “Successful Pacific Peoples” and it is essential that you are able to demonstrate an understanding and affinity for Pacific peoples and cultures. Fluency in a Pacific Island language would be a distinct advantage.

For success in this role it is essential that you have advanced relationship management skills.
