A 25% reduction in re-offending is bold but achievable. We already know why offenders go on to commit crime. Our programmes of work will change this – we will be giving offenders greater skills and experience to understand and address the causes of their offending, providing a platform of sustainable success as they continue their life journey.

Across all these interventions, there will be a strong focus on the capability of our staff, developing new and innovative approaches, while expanding and strengthening existing services. We will ensure our people have the support and training they need to do their job well.

This is where you come in…

By providing professional leadership and supervision, you will maintain programme integrity and standards across the region, supporting national and local initiatives.

In the training and development of your team, you will ensure their professional supervision and credentialing, identifying risks around practice issues and contributing to the continuous improvement of therapeutic programmes.

We are looking for programme professionals who;

demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the coaching, mentoring and performance management of others

have experience in group facilitation with a strong background in therapeutic interventions and principles

are knowledgeable in Māori culture, protocols and peoples

hold a relevant tertiary qualification (preferred) with emphasis on rehabilitation and reintegration disciplines including social sciences

possess exceptional relationship management skills

A full driver’s licence is essential.

You will be joining a small and supportive team in a challenging role – make a difference.

At the Department of Corrections we are passionate about reducing re-offending and keeping communities safe. With Corrections you’ll be part of a highly supportive team that manages offenders in prison and in the community.
