<p>We have a great opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional to join our Marlborough, Nelson, West Coast based ECE team. This position will be based in the Nelson office.</p>
<p>Ministry of Education early childhood staff administer ECE regulations, including the issuing of licences and certificates, monitoring of compliance, responding to complaints and providing advice and support to the ECE sector. Community liaison and networking to support the government goal of achieving 98% participation in ECE are also key aspects of the role.</p>
<p>You will need excellent communication and relationship management skills, be solutions focused, and have the ability to work effectively within a team.</p>
<p>We are looking for a team member who has the drive and experience to coordinate work aimed at ensuring every child has the opportunity to participate in high quality early childhood education. You will need a thorough understanding of early childhood education and the ability to respond rapidly to complex situations.</p>
<p>All Ministry of Education work is positioned within the Ka Hikitia strategy, with a focus on M&#257;ori enjoying educational success as M&#257;ori. Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to lead and influence the sector, and work within target communities to support the focus on enhancing educational outcomes for both M&#257;ori, and Pasifika children.</p>
<p>This is a permanent, full time role.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Parents Families and Wh&#257;nau &#8211; Early Years and Learning Support</p>
<p>The PFW team aims to be a catalyst in transforming the learning relationships between parents, families and wh&#257;nau and early childhood education centres, schools and educational environments.</p>
<p>This position is responsible for implementing strategies that enable parents and wh&#257;nau to support the educational achievement of their children and engage with providers within targeted communities in their region. This position contributes directly to the Ministry priority outcome of M&#257;ori achieving educational success as M&#257;ori, through utilising the resources of wh&#257;nau to enhance the educational achievement of their children. This position will be located in Wellington and is a fixed term or secondment position.</p>
<p>This Senior Adviser role will assist with the coordination of the strategy and planning of the PFW work programme and alignment to Government and Ministry priorities. This includes:</p>
<ul>
<li>Coordination of the PFW input / feedback / contribution to Ministry publications documents / internet pages and Ministerial correspondence</li>
<li>Provide advice and support to the development of toolkits including newsletters and resource material</li>
<li>Provide analysis based on the experience of wh&#257;nau and learners as recorded by the PFW field staff</li>
<li>Lead the ongoing development, support and advice of PFW KBase, monitoring and reporting</li>
<li>Monitor the effectiveness of the PFW programme</li>
<li>Write PFW reports and Ministerial</li>
<li>Ensure the work of the PFW field staff with wh&#257;nau, hapu and iwi is communicated to relevant Ministry teams and service providers to ensure problems and successes identified by wh&#257;nau are effectively addressed by those teams</li>
<li>Contribute to the Ministry’s knowledge base about effective practices to raise demand for better education.</li>

<p>By providing professional leadership and supervision, you will maintain programme integrity and standards across the region, supporting national and local initiatives.</p>
<p>In the training and development of your team, you will ensure their professional supervision and credentialing, identifying risks around practice issues and contributing to the continuous improvement of therapeutic programmes.</p>
<p>We are looking for programme professionals who;</p>
<ul>
<li>demonstrate strong leadership skills, including the coaching, mentoring and performance management of others</li>
<li>have experience in group facilitation with a strong background in therapeutic interventions and principles</li>
<li>are knowledgeable in M&#257;ori culture, protocols and peoples</li>
<li>hold a relevant tertiary qualification (preferred) with emphasis on rehabilitation and reintegration disciplines including social sciences</li>
<li>possess exceptional relationship management skills</li>
</ul>
<p>A full driver&#8217;s licence is essential.</p>

<p>Reporting to the Kaihaut&#363;, and as a member of the M&#257;ori Heritage Team, the Pou R&#257;rangi Taonga will co-ordinate the Historic Places Trust’s programme for the registration of w&#257;hi tapu and w&#257;hi tapu areas, and carry out research to support registrations. The Pou R&#257;rangi Taonga will also assist, in conjunction with the Registrar, the research for, and registrations of historic places and historic areas of M&#257;ori interest.</p>
<p>You will require a tertiary qualification and/or technical competency and experience in M&#257;ori studies, resource management, planning, history or other relevant professional field, and knowledge of the relevant statutory and legislative processes. Experience in historical research, working with iwi / hap&#363; / r&#363;nanga and M&#257;ori organisations is preferred. Competency in Tikanga and Te Reo M&#257;ori, and the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi is essential.</p>
